Responding to Our Modeling Casting Calls

Step by Step

Step 1 - Fill out the form below - completely. We will evaluate your facial features and physique based on the pictures you send to me. Do send recent pics - headshots, full-body shots, along with measurements. If those are taken with a phone, that is fine.
Step 2 - If you have a look that we want to add to our portfolio, we will set up an in-person meeting to discuss the photoshoot. Typically, come up with 3-5 concepts. We will detail each concept's outfits, accessories, makeup, and hairstyle. Then, sequence them. This helps make the most productive use of our mutual time during the shoot. Arrive for our meeting without makeup, as it helps evaluate your natural skin tone. Please go over the Model Release Agreement before our meeting to discuss it. Be prepared to discuss an hourly rate. You will be responsible for providing your outfits, makeup, hairstyling, accessories, etc. You can seek compensation either as an hourly rate or pictures in exchange for your time & effort or a hybrid - a lower hourly rate + pictures in exchange.
Step 3 - Set a date or dates for the Modeling Photoshoot.
Step 4 - Modeling Photoshoot. Note that if we are shooting film photography, it is quite different from doing a photo shoot with a digital camera. Each click of the shutter has a significant cost - anywhere from $3 to $60 per shot. So, the pace is much slower. With digital, most photographers shoot hundreds of images. We typically shoot 10-20 images for the entire shoot with film. Each shot is carefully envisioned, planned, measured, and taken. This makes the process much slower. Your patience as a model and the ability to hold a pose for an extended time is important.

Step 5 - We review the images from the Modeling Photoshoot and edit them as appropriate.
Step 6 - Review images together - if appropriate - and finalize.
Step 7 - Provide copies of the images if that is part of our agreement. Some models prefer receiving web-quality images for online use instead of monetary compensation. Other models prefer monetary compensation. Some models prefer a mix - a lower hourly rate + copies of images.

What is a Modeling Comp Card?

Not sure what a Comp or Composite Card is? Check out this link. It is your basic marketing tool as a model. It is your calling card. To be taken seriously and come across as a professional, it is a must to have a Comp Card (8.5 x 5.5”). When doing a Comp Card, one important thing to remember is that your headshot (on the front) should have minimum makeup and styling. Why? Because ad agencies or Clients want to see what you look like in the ‘raw.’ This enables them to see what styling and makeup would be appropriate for the shoot they have in mind. Also, keep ‘Photoshopping’ to a minimum if you must have it ‘Photoshopped.’ Clients want to see you the way you are - at least in your headshot. For the remainder of the shots (on the back, four shots), show your versatility by doing different outfits and looks. Showcase how you can carry off any style, whether it is a Fitness (Gym Clothing) shoot, Evening Wear, Casual Jeans, wearing Shorts, Picnic Dress, Swimwear, or Lingerie. Check out Pinterest for ideas on Comp Card layouts but keep yours elegant & professional.

Comp Cards are also called Z Cards, Zed Cards, or Sed Cards, with Comp Card still being the most common name.

Your Search for modeling portfolio photographers in McAllen is over

If you are looking for anything related to getting your Modeling or Fashion Photography Portfolio, we can help. Whether you need images requested by a Modeling Agency for your qualification round or need Comp Cards designed and printed for marketing your Modeling talents, we can help. We are your 1-Stop-Shop for everything from taking photographs to delivering printed Comp Cards. Additionally, given our Digital and Technology Background, we can design your web portfolio site. Help you with consistent and professional branding and look regardless of the channel you use to market your talent. Keep in mind that having an online version of the Comp Card is acceptable. We would still suggest getting a small number of cards printed, as it always makes a favorable impression when you give someone a tangible card. The big advantage of the online version is the ability to send it immediately and change images as needed.

You can ALWAYS bring a supportive friend, a significant other, or a family member to ALL shoots. No need to ask - ever. There is a good chance that we will put them to use during the shoot. Also, when possible, we like to shoot two models at a time so that while one is changing and getting ready, we can continue to shoot with the other, and they can be supportive of each other.

Searching for Modeling Agencies Near Me in McAllen?

Do it cautiously if you search for local, regional, or national Modeling Agencies. Agencies that demand sums of money upfront should raise a red flag. Search them by name to see what kind of reputation or reviews they have online and proceed from there.
