The Canon Canonet QL 17 GIII is considered by many to be the poor man's Leica due to the stellar image quality of the Canonet QL 17's 3rd iteration. The camera has a solid build quality, and with a 40mm f1.7 lens, it places you in between 35mm and 50mm lens focal lengths.

Given their age, these cameras need an overhaul or a clean, lubricate, and adjustment (CLA) without exception. That rejuvenates the camera to last another generation. We have taken it one step further on some of them by customizing them with a colorful leatherette.

The built-in light meter allows you to shoot it in automatic mode, where once you manually set the focus, the camera determines the aperture and shutter speed. If the light is not enough to give you good exposure, the shutter will not fire. Alternatively, you can take it off the 'A' mode and shoot it in full manual mode. Handy if the camera runs out of battery and you don't have a spare in your camera bag. The meter handles up to 800 ISO, giving you a wide variety of films to shoot.
