Fomapan 400 (Fomapan 400 Action) is an ISO 400 panchromatic black-and-white negative film made by Foma Bohemia in the Czech Republic. It develops in standard black-and-white chemistry, at a lab or at home.
The roll covers the McAllen Convention Center in McAllen, Texas — a vaulted brick arcade, a covered walkway in hard afternoon shadow and the clock tower behind palms — plus a playground slide at La Vista Park in McAllen. At La Lomita Chapel in Mission, Texas, there is a twisted tree trunk on the grounds and the chapel’s petrified wood Virgin of Guadalupe shrine, decorated with flowers.
About La Lomita Chapel: La Lomita (“the little hill”) Chapel stands near the Rio Grande south of Mission, Texas. The first chapel was built in 1865 on René Guyard’s ranch, which he left to the Oblate missionaries; it became a resting stop for the “Cavalry of Christ” — priests who rode on horseback between Brownsville and Roma to serve remote ranches. The chapel was rebuilt at its current site in 1899 with sandstone dug from the nearby hill, and the city of Mission takes its name from it. It is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark (1964) and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (1975).
