Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Abu Dhabi, UAE

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the United Arab Emirates and according to the General Secretariat Organization of Islamic Countries, the SZGM is the third largest mosque after the mosques of Mecca and Medina. I call it ‘Heaven’s Waiting Room.’

In this book, I cover the history and architecture of the mosque with photographs of the beautiful mosque. Built at a cost of over $500 million, it uses marble extensively along with other rare materials. The chandelier in the main prayer hall is believed to be the largest of its kind at 12 tonnes. There are six other smaller chandeliers of similar construction and between the seven chandeliers, they use 40 million Swarovski crystals. The chandeliers were designed by Faustig of Germany.

The central courtyard has the world’s largest marble botanical mosaic designed by British artist and designer, Kevin Dean. “According to Lorenzo Lotesto of Fantini Mosaici, the company that created the marble designs, four hundred artisans were hired for a year to put together the mosaic, which involved numbering thirty million pieces of marble” Excerpt From: Pino Shah. “Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.”

In an effort to make the eBook on the mosque available to the maximum number of folks across the globe to showcase to them this symbol of peace and tolerance as envisioned by Sheikh Zayed as a representation of Islam, I am making the eBook available for download for FREE.
